What you might call a hidden gem, this Touraine-Oisly. The name may not be as well-known as that of greats Sancerre or Pouilly-Fumé, but the quality and authenticity of this Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire are outstanding, especially considering the modest price.

The wine is the pride of Domaine de Marcé. It is one of the few producers in Touraine-Oisly, a small sub-appellation of the much larger Touraine. The small area – just south of Blois, nestled between the Loire and the Cher – has only been officially recognized as an AOP since 2011, but the Godet family already has six generations of experience there.

Winemaker Christophe Godet therefore knows better than anyone how suitable the terroir here is for unique quality wine. He cultivates some 35 hectares of vineyards with predominantly Sauvignon Blanc vines, planted on a soil of sand and clay. This composition gives his wines elegance as well as intensity and weight.

And you can taste that in the Coulée Galante: a delicious, classy white wine! With its recognizable, fresh Sauvignon signature, but also a remarkably soft and rich character, it is moreover a magnificent wine at the table. Try it classically with young goat cheese, green salads, or fish, or more adventurously with mildly spicy Asian dishes.
