A delicious Organic Cabernet Franc
Full red in color with some purple; fruity in scent with nuances of raspberries and cherries and some leather and laurel. The balanced taste is full, round and smooth and ends with a light and ripe tannin in the aftertaste. Cold starters and charcuterie, but also light meat dishes from the grill.

Red Loire wines from the regional specialty Cabernet Franc are becoming increasingly popular. However, who the winemaker is and how his vineyards are located is relevant to quality. The harvest of insufficiently ripe grapes produces red wines with vegetal aromas, too much acid and hard tannin.
Bertrand Sourdais of Domaine de Pallus in Chinon is one of the top winemakers in the region. His prestige cuvée 'Grand Vin de la Rougerie' is even one of the best (and most expensive) wines from Chinon.
Bertrand's secret? Limiting revenues as much as possible. When there are fewer grapes on the vine, they logically benefit more from the available amount of sun, water, nutrients and ventilation than with a large harvest.
The Messanges is Bertrand's exceptionally beautiful, organic (and affordable) 'entry-level' Chinon. It is a beautiful, pure Cabernet Franc expression with seductive, clean aromas and a smooth, fruity taste. One of the most attractive Loire Cabernets ever on our tasting table in this price range!
