Tasting note La Tour Beaumont
Bright red in color, powerful fruity in fragrance with juicy red fruit and a nuance of red beets. The taste is juicy, round and aromatic.
Cabernet franc is the red grape of the great Loire wines such as Bourgueil and Chinon. These wines almost seem specially made for the Parisian brasseries and bistros where most of the production, often slightly cooled, is consumed. The grape is family (and probably also the precursor) of the much more famous cabernet sauvignon and gives a lighter, more supple red wine with less drying tannin.
If ripe harvested of course, because otherwise cabernet franc is raw and sour. This, by Pierre Morgeau, is of exemplary quality with its accessible, fresh-smooth taste and beautiful fruit expression. Without ripening wood, because according to Pierre that does not suit the ideal way of serving. Young, slightly cool and preferably with a typical bistro meal such as pate with French bread, meal salads or white meat.
