Tasting note La Tour Beaumont
Bright red in color, with a powerful fruity aroma of juicy red fruit and a hint of beetroot. The taste is juicy, round, and aromatic.
Description
Cabernet Franc is the quintessential red grape of the great Loire wines such as Bourgueil and Chinon. These wines seem almost made especially for the Parisian brasseries and bistros, where the majority of the production is consumed, often slightly chilled. The grape is related to (and likely the predecessor of) the much better-known Cabernet Sauvignon and produces a lighter, more supple red wine with fewer drying tannins.
Provided it is harvested ripe, of course, because otherwise Cabernet Franc is rough and acidic. This one, from Pierre Morgeau, is of exemplary quality with its accessible, fresh-smooth taste and beautiful fruit expression. Without oak aging, because according to Pierre that does not fit the ideal way of serving. Young, slightly chilled, and preferably with a typical bistro meal such as pâté with baguette, meal salads, or white meat.
