Tasting note Haut - Poitou
Bright red wine with a spicy aroma of fresh red fruit, such as red currant and earthy notes. The taste structure is fresh, elegant and ends with a fruity, slightly spicy aftertaste.
Pierre Morgeau selects the best located plots with the oldest grape vines for his finest red wine. He also harvests his cabernet franc later and more mature. Although this gives less grapes per stick, they are considerably more concentrated and have more aroma and taste potential.
Those extras get into the wine by allowing the skins to act longer on the fermenting juice. After fermentation, the wine matures for 12 months in 500-liter barrels of French oak from the Allier forests. Pierre wants to avoid the strong smell and taste of new oak in his refined red wine. That is why he first uses these precious barrels for two years to age part of his Chardonnay Tradition.
The wood influence on this beautiful red Loire wine therefore remains subtle. The beautiful ripening tones are particularly striking. A real recommendation for lovers of elegant, fresh red wines - also slightly chilled.
