Grand Petit Chablis
Better than many Chablis
From rising star Sébastien Dampt
Classic, mineral style

Tasting note Dampt petit chablis

Fresh dry white wine with an aroma of green apple, light floral nuances and some dairy. The juicy flavor structure is balanced and mild in the aftertaste.

Description

Petit Chablis may have 'petit' in the name, but there is nothing small about Sébastien Dampt. This is also testament to the critical acclaim he receives for this wine from international critics. For example, Parker's Wine Advocate writes: 'certainly one of the best Petit Chablis that I tasted'. That says everything about the great talent of the young Sébastien.
Petit Chablis is officially considered the least appellation of Chablis. In many cases, this is indeed evident from the quality of the wines. In the hands of a good winemaker, Petit Chablis can get so good that it tastes better than the average Chablis. So this is one of them.
Sébastien does not have his love for the wine trade from a stranger. He started his own domain in 2007 after training in Beaune and several years of work experience in the wine company of his father Daniel Dampt. It is in his footsteps that he makes his wines: traditional, with fermentation and maturation in stainless steel tanks only to achieve optimal terroir expression and a fresh, mineral character. The malolactic fermentation ensures that the wine, despite its fresh character, is nicely rounded and slightly creamy. Delicious to drink as an aperitif or with a nice fish dish.
