Description
Treixadura is not only regarded as the 'Queen of Ribeiro', but is also the specialty of the prominent bodega Ramón do Casar. In addition to a traditional blend, this winery produces beautiful single-varietal white wines. Their Treixadura is so good that the wine has been voted the best white wine of Ribeiro multiple times.
The grapes are planted in vineyards in the Miño Valley, on poor granite soils. This relatively humid, cool sub-region produces wines with tension, freshness, and depth, and pleasantly modest alcohol levels. Once optimally ripe, the grapes are hand-picked.
The renowned Spanish oenologist Pablo Estévez oversees the work in the cellar. After gentle pressing, fermentation follows at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks to preserve as many of the fine aromas of the Treixadura as possible. After five months of aging with the lees for added body, bottling follows.
Anyone who tastes the Treixadura immediately understands why this is the queen of the region. What a distinctive, harmonious white wine! With its seductive aroma of peach, pear, and grapefruit, and a round, creamy, yet fresh and precise taste, this is a delightful glass to drink on its own, but certainly also a gastronomic wine. A valuable addition to our Galicia range.
Drinks with
Delicious on its own and ideal with refined (fish) dishes or seafood, such as green salad with salmon, mango, and cucumber, pan-fried sole with raisin-lentil salsa, or risotto with crayfish.
Tasting note
Lemon-yellow wine with an intense aroma of elderflower, anise, peach, apricot, and brioche. The taste is full and smooth with yellow fruit and crisp, fresh acidity. Unctuous finish with tension and finesse.
