Description
Stefano Caruso and his daughters Giovanna and Rosanna make fantastic, modern Sicilian wines in Marsala, on the western tip of the island. Their Naturalmente series consists of pure, energetic organic wines from local Sicilian grape varieties and was enthusiastically received not only by us but also by the international wine press.
The Catarratto grape is a specialty of the province of Trapani, where Caruso e Minini is based. The grape was widely used for the production of Marsala, but also yields delicious dry white wines. To ensure maximum freshness in their wine, the Caruso family cultivates Catarratto in their high-altitude vineyards.
Once harvested, the grapes are destemmed and crushed in the cellar, followed by a short maceration of the skins. Subsequently, the juice ferments at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Finally, the wine ages in these tanks for some time on the precipitated yeast.
The result is a wonderfully fresh, elegant, and energetic white wine, with notes of apple, peach, anise, and ginger. It is delicious to drink on its own or as an aperitif, but also pairs well with, for example, bruschetta, Caprese salad, or pasta with pesto. A wine that makes you happy!
