Bodegas Castelo de Medina

The successful winemakers of Castelo de Medina have chosen a different approach to making wine from the Verdejo grapes grown in their prime plots. This decision has paid off remarkably well. The previous vintage convincingly won the prestigious Mundus Vini competition in Germany and was voted the best Spanish white wine.

Winemaker Sara Román experienced less-than-ideal harvest conditions but nevertheless produced a beautiful white wine. By keeping the finished wine in contact with the lees (yeast cells) for a little longer, this specially selected Verdejo has that lovely combination of freshness and a slightly oily flavor.
