Slightly sweet wine
|
|
| Made from late-harvested Gewürztraminer grapes | |
| Full, soft and fresh | |
| A good match with spicy dishes and sharp cheese like Munster. |
Tasting note Domaine Engel Gewurztraminer
French white wine with an intense aroma of peach, honey, and flowers. The full, soft, and mildly sweet taste pairs excellently with spicy dishes or sharp cheese such as Munster.
Description
As in Burgundy, Alsace also has Grand Cru vineyards where different owners often cultivate their grapes. The Grand Cru Altenberg (near Rorschwihr) has an exceptionally good location, and Engel plants Gewürztraminer here. It is harvested late, resulting in such good ripeness that the wine has a slightly sweet taste. This makes this Grand Cru a fine culinary wine, but it can also be served as a chilled aperitif, as is often done in France.
Since 2006, all of Engel's vineyards have held the organic Ecocert certificate.
