Cederberg Shiraz

A South African oak-aged red wine with aromas of intensely ripe fruit, coffee, and spices. The flavor is full-bodied and smooth. An excellent accompaniment to game dishes or tenderloin.

David Nieuwoudt is currently the fifth-generation owner of this beautiful winery in the northern part of South Africa. The vineyards are located in the Cederberg region of the same name, at an altitude of over 1,000 meters. The cool and extremely remote location results in a virus-free vineyard. Cederberg wines are distinguished by their elegance and purity of fruit aromas and flavors, and have won numerous medals.

Shiraz is also known internationally as Syrah and thrives in Cederberg. The wine is made in a modern way with a cold maceration before the relatively cool and short fermentation. This is followed by 15 months of maturation in primarily French Allier oak barrels.
