A bright red wine from Italy with a refined aroma of ripe candied fruit, light spices, and a hint of oak. The palate is elegantly full and aromatic. A lovely accompaniment to poultry or pork.

Description

Due to the various vinification methods, Valpolicella can be very diverse in style. These range from light and fruity (Valpolicella) to highly concentrated (Valpolicella Amarone). Tenuta Lena di Mezzo also produces a variety of wines. For Ripasso, the best part of the red Valpolicella wine is set aside and, in February, supplemented with the finished fermentation of the grapes (the marc) from the concentrated Amarone wine. This creates a second fermentation that completely transforms the wine and results in much greater concentration of color, aroma, and flavor. After this, the wine is aged for approximately 12 months in small oak barrels.
