Alexandre Relvas's Segredos wines from Alentejo offer outstanding quality at a competitive price. The latest addition to the range is the luxurious and seductive Grande Escolha.

Alexandre makes this beautiful red wine primarily from Touriga Franca, Syrah, and Alicante Bouschet—three grape varieties that thrive in the hot southern Portuguese climate. The grapes are grown in vineyards planted on clay and schist soils and are harvested by hand.



After harvest, the grapes ferment in typical Portuguese lagares, or open vats. In Alexandre's modern cellar, these lagares are, of course, automated. This ensures that the skins are constantly submerged, which extracts more color and structure from the skins. After fermentation, Alexandre ages the wine in oak barrels for twelve months.

The Grande Escolha has a delightful, open aroma of ripe red and black fruit, spices, a hint of vanilla, and toast. It is velvety, ripe, and spicy in flavor with a lingering finish. A perfect red wine to pair with roasted meats, game dishes, or aged cheeses.
