Chakana Chardonnay
Beautiful, aromatic dry white wine with ripe tropical fruit and mild oak nuances in the scent. The taste is soft, fragrant and round and has a full, persistent aromatic aftertaste.
Argentina Chakana Nuna
The best white wines come from areas with a temperate climate. How do you give the Chardonnay in warm Mendoza complexity and excitement? That is the challenge for Chakana, in search of 'terroir expression'.
Born and raised in Mendoza, winemaker Gabriel Bloise has switched to organic cultivation with low yields. The winery is looking for new locations when planting new vineyards. The choice of grapes is determined much more than before by the microclimate and the soil conditions of the plots.
It is a complex quest for an optimal interaction between grape variety and terroir. The vineyard where this wine comes from is located in Altamira, at an altitude of no less than 1,100 meters. Here the relatively cool conditions ensure a longer and better ripening of the grapes. The wine is then aged in oak casks and egg-shaped cement tanks, so that the wood aging does not predominate.
This is a wonderful combination of the smoothness of the New World and the tension and freshness of the Old World.
