Cabernet Sauvignon meets Primitivo
A deep red wine from southern Italy with aromas of stewed fruit and new oak. A great wine to enjoy on its own. But its full, smooth flavor also pairs well with spicy dishes like pizza or barbecue.
Angelo Maci
Angelo Maci is not only an excellent winemaker but also a man of vision. He founded a small cooperative in 1989 to give his native Salento in southern Apulia the recognition it deserves. Almost 25 years later, Cantine Due Palme has become one of the leading wineries in southern Italy.
Angelo's flagship wine, Selvarossa, has already achieved the highest rating in the Gambero Rosso three times. But there's more! Like the red Tenuta Albrizzi, with its unusual yet highly successful combination of Cabernet Sauvignon and the indigenous Primitivo grape. These grapes are hand-harvested and visually selected again for quality before fermentation.
The wine is then aged for six months in small barrels of the finest oak from the French department of Allier and the Tronçais forest. The full, rounded, and slightly spicy flavor harmonizes beautifully with the noble and luxurious oak aroma and flavor. If you appreciate rich, full-bodied red wine with a smooth taste, then this is an absolute must-try. It won a gold medal at the 2014 Vinitaly wine competition.
