Test note DMZ Maestro White
Powerful dry white wine with a rich aroma of ripe tropical fruit and refined wood tones. Fine wine great with many fish dishes but also very tasty with poultry or veal.
DeMorgenzon Estate is not only a very nice wine estate, but everything is also about quality. The vineyards are located on the higher and cool part of Stellenbosch between 200 and 400 meters above sea level. DeMorgenzon's philosophy: to combine the fruity and expressiveness of the New World with the elegance and refinement of the Old World. This is expressed at DeMorgenzon in wines with a pleasant drinkability.
The Maestro White is a blend of about a quarter of roussanne and a quarter of chardonnay supplemented with roughly equal parts of grenache blanc chenin blanc and viognier. The leading Platter's wine guide counts the Maestro White among the best white wines in South Africa.
The vineyards have a low yield of around 30 hectoliters per hectare and the grapes have a naturally fresh acid content. After fermentation, the Maestro White ripens for ten months in small oak casks. After a light filtering the bottling follows. Meanwhile, the wine has an impressive record and we can only buy a modest amount of this wine!
