Tasting note Olim Bauda Moscato d'Asti
Elegant, aromatic and fresh slightly sparkling wine with a refined aroma of nutmeg and some honey. The taste is soft and fresh with a soft mousse and develops semi-sweet.
definition
The popularity of Moscato has increased enormously in recent years. As a result, much more is produced than in the past. Many of the wines are not particularly good or exciting. This particularly delicate Moscato d'Asti from our Barbera producer Tenuta Olim Bauda is all the more striking in the enormous range.
This striking quality is not entirely surprising. Passion and dedication are of paramount importance at this family domain. It is not without reason that brothers and sister Dino, Gianni and Diana have gained recognition from the international wine press with their Barberas in recent years. And the Moscato is also taken very seriously here.
The grapes are harvested and selected in early September. Then they are lightly bruised and the peels remain with the juice for several hours. The fermentation takes place in closed stainless steel tanks, so that the carbon dioxide released during fermentation remains in the wine. When the wine has reached the correct alcohol percentage, the wine is cooled to stop the fermentation process.
Although Moscato is pre-eminently known as a wine to drink young, the Bertolino family discovered that it used to be customary to bottle Moscato in underground cellars. They started experimenting and are excited about the result. So drink this Moscato from a few months after bottling, until possibly even five or six years afterwards, if properly stored of course.
