Delicious wood-aged Verdejo
Expressive, fruity, fresh dry white wine with notes of yellow peach, melon, quince, anise and toast. Accessible and deliciously juicy in taste with an invigorating freshness and beautiful suppleness. The final is crisp and lingering with yellow fruit. Delicious to drink as an aperitif or with tapas. Also goes perfectly with various fish dishes, such as grilled sardines with olive oil, empanada with tuna or paella a la marinera.
Top quality from the Rueda
The Rueda wine region has given the Verdejo grape international fame. But also in other Spanish wine regions beautiful aromatic white wines are made from this special and recognizable grape variety.
Bodegas Piqueras in southern Almansa makes a striking example. Their Verdejo grapes come from organically cultivated plots at an altitude of 700 meters.
We selected the best part of the harvest with winemaker Juan Pablo Bonete and aged the wine for a little longer than the usual two months in the yeast cells ('sobre lías') in lightly toasted 300-litre casks made of luxury French oak from the Allier .
A further six months of aging in large steel tanks followed, during which the wine also remains in contact with the lees. The result? A beautiful full-bodied wine with a ripe taste, beautifully dosed oak and an exceptionally good price-quality ratio.
