Information

From the limited series Colección Vivanco
A selection of plots with the most beautiful terroir
In striking traditional 18th century bottle

Tasting note Vivanco Rioja Garnacha

Refined scented red wine with notes of candied fruit and mild Mediterranean spices. The palate is smooth, round and soft and ends with a lingering, long finish with elegant tannin.

Description

Garnacha may play a major role in simple quality Rioja's, but in high Rioja's garnacha often plays a minor role. It is precisely those traditional, local Rioja grapes with such a minor role, that Rafael Vivanco wants to pay attention to in his very exclusive, limited series Colección Vivanco,

The grapes for the Parcelas de Garnacha come from two specific plots, namely La Ladera de Zorraquín and El Recuenco. They are harvested by hand in small crates and vinified separately. Fermentation takes place in new and used French oak barrels, using wild yeasts.

After fermentation, the wine matures for 18 months in various sizes in wooden barrels. It is bottled unfiltered and clarified, so that there may be a little bit of sediment in the bottle. The bottle model is inspired by the traditional 18th century Rioja bottle, which can also be admired in the Vivanco wine museum.

All in all a special wine, which not only tastes delicious at the table, but is also a feast for the eyes. Drink it for example with pheasant, guinea fowl or red meat.

Drink with
Beautiful and special Rioja, delicious with game birds such as pheasant or guinea fowl or lightly seasoned veal.
