Information

Tasting note Cour des Dames Syrah

Deep red wine with purple nuances and a drifting fruity aroma of blueberries, blackberries and a touch of oak. Delicious glass to drink on its own, but also great with a barbecue or spicy snacks.

Description

Syrah is well on its way to becoming a great success in the Pays d'Oc. The grape variety thrives exceptionally well in large parts of southern France and Laurent Delaunay makes good use of the differences in soil type and microclimate. The selection of grapes comes from three different regions.

The oldest vines in the Nîmes area have deep roots and thus provide richness and roundness. The grapes from the limestone clay soil in the Béziers plain provide firmness and the poor calcareous soil near Carcassonne provides freshness.

A small part (10%) of the assembly then matures in oak casks. The result is a syrah with remarkable complexity for this price range. Simply delicious!

Interesting detail: the name La Tour des Dames was changed to La Cour des Dames from the 2014 harvest because the famous Château Latour in Bordeaux (!) objected to the use of the old name.
