Tasting note Cour des Dames Syrah
Deep red wine with purple nuances and a dusty fruity aroma of blueberry blackberries and a touch of oak. Delicious glass for drinking, but also great with a barbecue or spicy snacks.
Syrah is fast becoming a great success in the Pays d'Oc. The grape variety thrives exceptionally well in much of southern France, and Laurent Delaunay makes good use of the differences in soil type and microclimate. The selection of grapes comes from three different regions.
The oldest canes in the vicinity of Nîmes are rooted deep and thus provide richness and roundness. The grapes from the limestone clay soil in the Béziers plain provide firmness and the poor calcareous soil near Carcassonne provides freshness.
A small part (10%) of the assembly then matures in oak casks. The result is a syrah with a remarkable complexity for this price range. Simply delicious!
Interesting detail: since the 2014 harvest, the name La Tour des Dames has been transferred to La Cour des Dames because the famous Château Latour in Bordeaux (!) Objected to the use of the old name.
